Brubeck Living Legacy  will bring the Brubeck name and the jazz summit vision to Lake Tahoe to promote awareness, interest and the understanding of jazz and its role in American and international culture. Brubeck Jazz Summit is a one-week, intensive educational program in jazz performance for exceptionally talented students from throughout the United States and beyond to study with faculty, guest artists and master teachers as a living legacy of the music and international statesman Dave Brubeck.

The Brubeck Jazz Summit presenting consortium at Lake Tahoe includes:

Simon Rowe, Executive Director of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Roots, Jazz, and American Music program, takes the lead for the artistic and educational content for the Brubeck Jazz Summit. As the former Director of the Brubeck Institute, Simon has the connections to secure the hottest jazz faculty and reach the most exceptional young talent, as well as years of experience running the Brubeck jazz camp.

Classical Tahoe will provide the marketing, financial, and production expertise, in addition to the performance Pavilion and box office capabilities for the Brubeck Jazz Summit. Classical Tahoe’s goals are to expand length, musical styles, and educational opportunities of the Classical Tahoe Festival and Music Institute.

Sierra Nevada College will be the home of the Brubeck Jazz Summit utilizing the beautiful campus, dorm rooms, cafeteria, and classrooms. Evening concerts and jazz jams will take place on the campus and around the community. The camp will begin with approx 20 students — including offering several “mutant musicians” full scholarship — and five faculty from the SFCM. The program will bring approximately $35-40,000 in summer rental revenue to the college. The number of students and dorm has the potential to grow year over year.

The program budget is $100,000 per year. Your support will help us get the program off the ground and headed for greatness.
